Arsenal v Wolverhampton Wanderers cancelled: Premier League match postponed due to lack of security staff
- Published
Tonight's match at the Molineux Stadium has been called off after a mistake in security arrangements, with safety concerns too significant for the game to go ahead.
The stadium has issued apologies via social media. The match is yet to be rearranged, and no answers have been given about the 'mistakes' in security planning.
There has been a surge in anger and disappointment from fans - some of whom have spent £80 on souvenir Ian Wright shirts especially for this match.
Arsenal would have been vying for a sixth consecutive win against Wolves. The Gunners have netted in each of the past 32 meetings in all competitions, the joint longest scoring streak against an opponent in the club's history (matching an ongoing run versus West Brom).
Wolverhampton have lost three of their past five home league fixtures, more defeats than in their previous 15 games at Molineux (W9, D4, L2). They would have been hoping to gain their first win in the last four Premier League games.
With the match postponed, however, these goals - and the goalposts - are no longer within reach.
The teams, fans, and journalists alike are currently awaiting further news from the stadium.
